  • 2013 WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SEASON IN REVIEW

    BOSTON, Mass. – After a disappointing campaign in 2012 that saw the program post an under .500 record (14-18) for just the second time in the past 17 seasons, the Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team rebounded with a stellar year in 2013 that saw berths to both the GNAC Championship and ECAC tournament.
  • GULLS STOP SAINTS IN ECAC QUARTERFINALS

    BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women’s Volleyball Championship opened Wednesday evening with the third-seeded Gulls of Endicott College playing host to the sixth-seeded Saints of Emmanuel College. The Gulls advanced to the tournament semifinals with a 3-0 sweep of the Saints and will now face No. 2 Western New England University on Saturday. Emmanuel’s season ends with the Saints holding an impressive 23-14 overall record for the 2013 campaign.
  • VOLLEYBALL TEAM TO PLAY AT ENDICOTT IN ECAC TOURNAMENT

    CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Tournament. The Saints are slated to play at No. 3 Endicott College on Wednesday night, November 13, at 7:00 PM.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College women’s volleyball Head Coach Denitra Seals has been named the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while freshman outside hitter Cassie Chruscielski (Duluth, Minn.) has been named the GNAC Rookie of the Year, it was announced by the conference office. Chruscielski was also named to the First Team while her freshman middle hitter Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) and sophomore setter Shannon Dudley (Morro Bay, Calif.) were recognized on the Second Team.
  • WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN GNAC FINALS TO RIVIER, 3-1

    NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier University captured the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball championship Saturday afternoon at the Muldoon Gymnasium by defeating Emmanuel College , 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-17). With the victory, the Raiders (26-8) earn the GNAC automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament while the Saints (23-13) will have to wait to see if they earn an at-large bid or receive an invitation to the ECAC Championship. This is the fifth GNAC Championship for the Raiders since 2003 and their second in three seasons.
  • WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS JWU, 3-1, TO EARN GNAC TITLE BERTH

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team recorded a 3-1 (27-25, 28-26, 20-25, 25-17) victory over Johnson & Wales University Thursday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference Semifinals action to earn a trip to the GNAC Finals on Saturday afternoon. The Saints, who improve to 23-12, will head to Nashua, N.H. to face the #1 seeded Rivier University Raiders at 1:00 PM while the loss ends the Wildcats season with an overall mark of 15-20.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Three Emmanuel College student-athletes were recognized this week by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in the weekly reports. Sophomore Sean Colford (Eddping, N.H.) was named the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, freshman Maggie Carey (Swampscott, Mass.) was named the Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week and freshman Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) was named the Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
  • SAINTS POST 3-0 GNAC QUARTERFINAL WIN OVER RAMS

    BOSTON, Mass. – The 2nd-seeded Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team defeated 7th-seeded Suffolk University, 3-0, on Tuesday night in a cross-town rivalry marking the first round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. This was Emmanuel’s 15th-consecutive GNAC Tournament appearance and the quarterfinal win came via set scores of 26-24, 25-10 and 25-16, boosting the Saints to 22-12 on the season. The loss dropped Suffolk to 16-14 on the season.
  • SAINTS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON WITH 3-2 WIN AT ECSU

    WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Emmanuel College put together a five-set victory over the Eastern Connecticut State University Women’s Volleyball Team to close out the regular season at 21-12 overall. The 3-2 win by set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 23-25 and 15-13 was a non-conference match played in ECSU’s Francis E. Geissler Gymnsium on Saturday afternoon.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) decision to Salve Regina University Thursday evening in non-conference action in the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium. With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 24-3 on the year while the loss drops the Saints to 20-12 overall.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman Kaitlyn Atkinson was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on October 28, an honor she is receiving for the third time this season and for the second-consecutive week. Atkinson, a native of Brookline, New Hampshire, has used her stellar hitting and dominant blocking to lead the Saints Women’s Volleyball Team to a twenty-win season.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team hosted its final tri-match of the regular season, playing host to Rivier University and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday afternoon in the Jean Yawkey Center. The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match marked Emmanuel’s Dig Pink games for breast cancer awareness.

    BOSTON – The Emmanuel College Women’s Volleyball Team headed across the street on Tuesday night for a Colleges of the Fenway (COF) showdown with Simmons College in the Holmes Sports Center. The Saints took care of the Sharks in four sets, 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-15, 25-19) to preserve their unbeaten mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. Emmanuel now stands at 19-10 on the season and 9-0 in conference play. The loss for Simmons dropped the Sharks to 8-22 overall and 6-3 in the GNAC.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Kaitlyn Atkinson (Brookline, N.H.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. The freshman’s most recent honor came after leading the Emmanuel Women’s Volleyball Team to a 2-1 week, which included a pair of three-set wins in a conference tri-match in Northfield, Vermont last Saturday.

    NORTHFIELD, Vt.—The Emmanuel College women's volleyball team continued its strong play in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall on the Norwich University Campus. Emmanuel posted 3-0 wins against Norwich and Saint Joseph’s, while the Monks won the final match of the day against Norwich by a score of 3-0. With the victories, EC improves to 18-10 overall and a perfec 8-0 in GNAC action.

    BRISTOL, R.I. – The 24th-ranked Roger Williams University Women’s Volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-15) win over Emmanuel College on Thursday evening. The non-conference win boosted the nationally-ranked Hawks to 24-1 on the season, while the loss dropped the visiting Saints to 16-10 overall.
  • CHRUSCIELSKI TABBED GNAC VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AGAIN

    BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College freshman Cassie Chruscielski was selected the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week, after powering the Saints to a 3-0 week, including a sweep of GNAC foes in a tri-match this past Saturday. This is the third time Chruscielski has received GNAC Weekly Honors, as she was also named the GNAC Rookie of the Week back on September 3rd and was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on October 1st.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team cruised to a pair of 3-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference victories this weekend, downing Suffolk University (27-25, 25-17, 25-19) and Anna Maria (25-15, 25-16, 25-10) at Reagan Gymnasium on the Suffolk University Campus. With the wins, the Saints stay perfect in the GNAC with a 6-0 mark and improve to 16-9 overall extending their winning streak to six matches.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Emmanuel College Saints rolled to a 3-0 sweep of the Lesley University Lynx in non-conference women’s volleyball action tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. The straight-set win featured the visiting Saints topping the Lynx, 25-17, 25-13, 25-21.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College’s Kaitlyn Atkinson was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week. The Brookline, New Hampshire native led the Saints to a 3-1 week by averaging close to three kills per set and hitting at a clip of .318 over her four matches played.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team notched a pair of 3-0 victories Saturday afternoon, defeating Albertus Magnus College (25-8, 25-16, 25-13) and Mount Ida College (25-14, 25-11, 25-13) to improve to 13-9 overall and 4-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. After the tri-match the Falcons stand at 9-7 overall and 1-3 in the GNAC while the Mustangs fall to 3-18 and 0-5 in GNAC action.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team held on for a 3-1 (25-21, 29-27, 18-25, 25-23) victory over Wheaton College Thursday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center in non-conference action. Despite late rallies in sets three and four, the Saints improve to 11-9 overall on the year while the loss drops the Lions record to 9-9.

    KEENE, N.H. – Keene State College swept a 3-0 non-conference women’s volleyball match against Emmanuel College at Keene’s Spaulding Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The game scores were 25-17, 25-11, and 25-15. The setback for the Saints snapped a three-match win streak, as the Saints drop to 10-9 on the season. Keene State has won seven of its last eight matches, improving to 11-6 overall with the victory.

    BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College kicked off Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Volleyball opening weekend by rolling to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) sweep of Johnson & Wales University in the Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday afternoon. The 3-0 win for the Saints was the first match of the day in a conference tri-match which also included Lasell College.

    BOSTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team used a balance offensive attack to defeat Rhode Island College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-20), for just the second time in the program’s history Tuesday evening at the Jean Yawkey Center. The two squads have now faced off 10 times with the Anchorwomen (0-15) owning an 8-2 all-time record but it was the Saints (8-8) who came away with the victory in tonight’s non-conference tilt. The only other win for Emmanuel against Rhode Island came back during the 2009 season.
  • VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN BRANDEIS, COLBY-SAWYER TRI-MATCH

    WALTHAM, Mass. – The Emmanuel Women’s Volleyball Team earned a split on Saturday in a non-conference tri-match played at Brandeis University. The Saints kicked off the day with a 3-1 win over the host Judges, before dropping a three-set decision to Colby Sawyer College in the second match of the afternoon. With no conference matches played yet this season, the non-league split moves the Saints’ record to 7-8 overall.

    Framingham, Mass. – The Framingham State University volleyball team extended their current win streak to four with a 3-1 hard fought victory over Emmanuel College in non-conference action at Framingham’s Athletic Center.

    WENHAM, Mass. – The Emmanuel College women’s volleyball team completed a tri-match sweep of Bay Path and Gordon College Saturday afternoon, downing the two non-conference opponents by 3-0 scores on the Gordon College campus. The Saints topped Bay Pay in straight sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-9 before downing the hosts with scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-19. With the wins, the Saints even their overall record at 6-6 while Gordon now stands at 4-5 and Bay Path is 1-7.

With the victory the Saints improve to 4-6 on the year and have now won three in a row while the loss drops the Leopards to 4-3.
