BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College junior pitcher Megan Kieselback (Wethersfield, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week and freshman outfielder Megan Long (Smithfield, R.I.) has been named the GNAC Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced earlier this afternoon.
Kieselback earns GNAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in her career after throwing a gem in her 2018 opener against Rosemont College. Kieselback tossed a complete-game shutout in Emmanuel's 20-0 victory over the Ravens, allowing just one hit while striking out 10 in the win. The lone hit came on an infield single in the third inning and Kieselback responded by retiring the next seven batters to end the game.
Over her career, Kieselback has compiled nine wins to go along with nine complete games and now has 96 career strikeouts.
Long posted a dominant performance for the Saints in her collegiate debut, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base. Long helped the Saints get the offensive show started against Rosemont, collecting a two-RBI single to put Emmanuel ahead 2-0 early on. The Saints would go on to score 17 runs in the inning and Long collected both her hits in the frame.
The Saints return to action later today when they take on Catholic University at 4:30 PM in more action at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
