BOSTON, Mass. – Junior guard Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (Cambridge, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this semester, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office. This marks the fourth time of her career that she has been named the GNAC Player of the Week.
The junior closed out the semester with a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double effort to lift Emmanuel over RIC in overtime, 75-71, last Monday, giving the Saints a 7-2 record heading into the break. She shot 11-of-23 across 44 minutes of action and added three assists in the win.
Through nine games, Ramirez-Tejeda is averaging a team-best 22.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game for the Saints, ranking second in the GNAC in both statistical categories.
Last season with the Saints, Ramirez-Tejeda was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll six times before earning GNAC Player of the Week Honors on Feb. 5, 2018. She went on to earn GNAC First-Team All-Conference Honors, leading the Saints in scoring and rebounding a year ago.
Emmanuel returns to action on Sunday, December 30 when they head to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. to take on Ramapo College at 11:00 AM. Ramirez-Tejeda and the Saints will look to help longtime Head Coach Andy Yosinoff become the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division III Women's Basketball history, needing just one win to set the Division III record with a 816 wins.
