Emmanuel College freshman Jenni Hewes was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Hewes' most recent honor came on October 17th, after she led the Emmanuel Women's Tennis Team to an undefeated 4-0 week.

Last week, the Cape Elizabeth, Maine native was undefeated in both her singles and doubles matches, posting a 7-0 record over the seven-day stand. Hewes' four singles wins included a three-set victory in Emmanuel's 6-3 loss to #2-seeded Emerson College and a three-set win in the Saints' crucial 5-4 win over Johnson & Wales University.

Hewes has started in the Saints' No. 6 singles position all season. She currently holds an overall record of 11-1, the best mark on the Emmanuel squad, and a GNAC record of 5-1. Hewes was previously named the GNAC Rookie of the Week on September 19th and to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on October 10th.

Hewes will be back in action this Wednesday evening (10/19). Emmanuel has earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament and the Saints will host 6th-seeded Mount Ida College on the Winsor School Tennis Courts at 5:00 PM.
