SOFTBALL TEAM WRAPS SEASON WITH PAIR OF LOSSES TO JWU

The Saints took the Wildcats into extra innings in the opener, before falling 7-6 in eight innings. JWU took game two handily, winning 7-0.

LEVINS' NO-HITTER LEADS SAINTS OVER BUCCANEERS

The Emmanuel College Softball Team cruised to an 11-0 shutout of Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday night, backed by a phenomenal pitching display from sophomore Julia Levins (Uxbridge, Mass.), who threw her first ever no-hitter.

AS A FRESHMAN... Was the only player on the 2011 roster to play in all 35 games, starting 34 contests for the Saints ... Posted a team-high .327 batting average with a team-best 35 hits during her rookie campaign ... Scored 20 runs and drove in 14 RBI while recording a .379 on-base percentage ... Drew six walks and led the team with three hit-by-pitches ... Collected nine multi-hit games on the year including a season-high four-hit outting on 3/29 vs. Wentworth in which she went 4-5 at the plate with four RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Emmanuel's 19-11 victory ... Also pitched in 12 games for Emmanuel, starting on five occasions while posting a 5.39 ERA and a 1-3 record ... Recorded two complete games, registering a total of 37.2 innings pitched while striking out a total of 34 batters.

BEFORE EMMANUEL... Levins was a two-sport athlete at Franklin High (Franklin, Mass.)...played both field hockey and softball...was 4-year varsity softball player...captained the team in her senior year...was voted Most Dedicated Player as a junior and Best Defensive Player as a senior...played club softball for the Mass Inferno under Tufts University Coach Cheryl Milligan... has been playing softball since she was 5 years old.
