The Emmanuel Women's Soccer Team earned a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) post-season tournament. The Saints received the 5th seed in the tournament and will travel to North Adams, Mass. to take on the 4th-seeded Trailblazers of Mass College of Liberal Arts at 1:30pm on Wednesday afternoon.
Emmanuel is now 14-6-1 and coming off a tough 2-1 double-overtime loss to Simmons College in the GNAC Championship. The 14-5 Trailblazers were defeated by Westfield State College, 3-1, in the MASCAC championship. MCLA has set a program-record at the school for wins in a season this year.
Emmanuel is the only women's soccer team from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference to receive an ECAC bid. Brandeis got the top seed in the tournament and will host 8th-seeded Castleton State College. The 2nd-seeded Owls of Keene State will host the 7th-seeded Lynx of Lesley University, while 3rd-seeded University of New England will host 6th-seeded UMass Boston.
This is the Saints' second-straight appearance in the ECACs. Emmanuel was ranked sixth last year and upset the 3rd-seeded Falcons of Fitchburg State College, before falling to Brandeis University in the ECAC semifinals.
The ECAC Division III Fall Team Championships will take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 with the semifinals and championship being held on the weekend of November 14th and 15th.
Wednesday's game between Emmanuel and MCLA will be played at the Joseph Zavattaro Athletic Complex, on West Shaft Road in North Adams, Mass. The game is slated to begin at 1:30pm.
