BOSTON, Mass. – The 3rd-seeded Emmanuel Women’s Soccer Team netted two goals in the second half to come from behind and defeat 6th-seeded Emerson College, 2-1, in the quarterfinal round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament. The GNAC Quarterfinal game was played on a rainy and windy Sunday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Field. The win brings the Saints to 13-5-1 on the season and Emmanuel advances to the GNAC Semifinals. Emerson ends its season at 8-6-3 overall.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game was the opener in a conference double-header played on Roberto Clemente Field. The victory moved the Saints into double figures in the win column, boosting Emmanuel to 10-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in league play. Anna Maria fell to 1-12 on the season and 0-10 in the GNAC.

BOSTON, Mass. - Simmons defeated Emmanuel, 2-0, in a critical Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s soccer game played under the lights at Roberto Clemente Field on Wednesday night. Simmons put together a two-goal first half and it was all the Sharks would need to top the host Saints, as they improved to 8-6 on the season and 7-3 in GNAC play. With their victory, the Sharks halted the Saints’ four-game win streak and spree of three-straight shutouts, as Emmanuel fell to 9-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.

WOMEN’S SOCCER TABBED 7TH IN GNAC PRESEASON POLL
BOSTON, Mass. – Coming off of back-to-back GNAC Women’s Soccer championships, the Lasell College women’s soccer team has been selected as the 2012 pre-season favorite in this year’s GNAC Coaches Poll, receiving a total of 149 points and eight first place votes. Not far behind in second was Johnson & Wales University with 143 points and one first place vote while Albertus Magnus College rounded out the top three with 140 points and two first place votes. Norwich University was slated to finish fourth with 126 points while Simmons College finished with 114 points and two first place votes in fifth. With 11 points, the University of Saint Joseph (CT) was the sixth team in the league with more than 100 points, showing just how open this year’s play could be.
