BOSTON, Mass. - Emmanuel College's Head Women's Basketball Coach Andy Yosinoff was recently honored with several presentations, after recording his 600th career win. The ceremonial presentations took place prior to the start of the Saints' January 21st home game vs. Suffolk University. Among the presentations, Yosinoff was honored with a proclamation from City of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, which declared January 21st "Andy Yosinoff Day" in the City of Boston.

Coach Yosinoff recorded his 600th career win back on December 9, 2008. He achieved the milestone with a 73-59 win over Lesley University, joining an esteemed class of just five Division III women's basketball coaches to ever accomplish this feat. Currently in his 32nd year as the head coach of the Saints, Yosinoff has compiled a list of impressive credentials. He ranks fifth in career victories among Division III women's basketball coaches, while his .752 winning percentage places him among the top 20 of his peers, both active and all-time.

Along with his 600-plus career wins, Yosinoff holds an impressive list of accolades. In 2001, he led the Saints to their 1st-ever Final Four appearance. In 2003, Yosinoff was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2005, he led the United States National Team to a Gold Medal finish in the Maccabiah Games in Israel. In 2007, he guided Emmanuel back to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

During the January 21st celebration, Coach Yosinoff was presented with the game ball from the 600th victory by Emmanuel's Director of Athletics, Pam Roecker. Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Patricia Rissmeyer then presented a donation of $1,000.00 to a scholarship fund in Coach Yosinoff's mother's name, Freda Yosinoff.

Finally, Emmanuel College President Sister Janet Eisner, SND, made the very special presentation to Andy. Sister Janet addressed the crowd in the Gymnasium of the Jean Yawkey Center, speaking from mid-court. Her words are as follows:

"For more than 30 years, Andy Yosinoff, has been an integral member of the Emmanuel community. His enthusiasm for the College, and particularly for our student-athletes, is unmatched. He has served us, not only as a coach and an administrator, but as an important liaison to the Fenway neighborhood and the City of Boston. For two decades, Andy also worked for the Boston Public Schools and he has been recognized for his many contributions to the community.

I would also like to acknowledge Andy's father and #1 fan, Mr. Louis Yosinoff, who is here tonight and has been a tireless supporter of the Saints.

I am honored this evening to present Andy with a proclamation from the City of Boston, signed by Mayor Thomas M. Menino. On behalf of the mayor, I am delighted to proclaim today, January 21, 2009, as "Andy Yosinoff Day" in the City of Boston. Congratulations, Andy on this momentous occasion. You truly live the mission of Emmanuel."
