The top-seeded Rivier College Raiders won their fifth-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, defeating Emmanuel College, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Rivier's Muldoon Center.

The Saints return to the GNAC Finals for the fourth time in five years
AS A JUNIOR...Petty saw action in 9 matches for the Saints...named GNAC Academic All-Conference for the second-straight year...helped the Saints to their second consecutive program-record for wins in a season, as Emmanuel went 28-9 on the year and advanced to the NECVA Tournament for the third-straight season.
AS A SOPHOMORE...Petty played in 28 matches for the Saints...was named to both the NECVA All-Academic Team and to the GNAC Academic All-Conference Team...totaled 74 kills, 40 blocks, 19 digs and 6 service aces... helped the Saints to a program-best 27 wins, including making a trip to the GNAC Finals and to the NECVA Tournament.
AS A FRESHMAN...Petty played in 30 matches for the Saints...was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll twice (1/19/09 and 2/16/09)...was third on the team in total blocks...totaled 133 kills, 69 blocks, 57 digs, 18 assists and 15 service aces...helped Emmanuel to a 19-13 overall record and a 9-3 GNAC mark, including a trip to the GNAC Finals and to the NECVA Tournament.
BEFORE EMMANUEL...Petty was a four-year player on the varsity team at Wayland High School (Wayland, Mass.)....played Beantown Volleyball Club for 8 years...participated in Junior Olympic Nationals for 5 years...was on one of only two teams to be invited to Junior Olympics from New England.
