SAINTS SWEEP LEOPARDS, 3-0

GNAC Rookie of the Week Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) recorded 15 kills and three blocks to pace the 14th-ranked Emmanuel College men's volleyball team in a 3-0 win over Colleges of the Fenway rival Wentworth Institute of Technolgy.

The 13th ranked Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball Team dropped the opening match of their 2012 campaign to Springfield College, 3-0, on Wednesday night in the Jean Yawkey Center.

EMMANUEL MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SEASON PREVIEW

The Saints, who were ranked 12th nationally in the AVCA preseason poll, are coming off the best season in program history and return seven veterans from last year's record-setting team.

BEFORE EMMANUEL...Mathews was a three-sport athlete at Spring Grove High School (Spring Grove, Pa.)...played four years of varsity soccer and volleyball and one year of tennis...was a three-year starter in both volleyball and soccer...named 1st Team All-County and All-District in volleyball...selected All-County in soccer as a senior...played for the Yorktown 18's Volleyball Team...placed 15th at Open Nationals.
