Following the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament last weekend, the conference released its 2012 All-Conference Teams, featuring the league's top players as voted upon by the GNAC head coaches. The conference recognized eighteen players with six players named 1st, 2nd and 3rd Team All-GNAC. Four Emmanuel student-athletes, including Nick Updike (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.), Tom McCaffrey (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Zach Whitermore (Whitehall, Pa.), received All-Conference honors. read more

The top-seeded Rivier College Raiders won their fifth-straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, defeating Emmanuel College, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Rivier's Muldoon Center. The Saints, who were playing in their fourth championship match in the five-year history of the tournament, fell to the Raiders in three sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-16. Rivier will receive the GNAC's first automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA Division III tournament. read more

Freshmen outside hitters Zach Whitermore (Whitehall, Pa.) and Ashanti Jackson (Sacramento, Calif.) combined for 31 kills to lead the Emmanuel College men's volleyball team past Johnson & Wales, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-21), Thursday evening in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament Semifinals at the Jean Yawkey Center in Boston, Mass. The Saints, who received seven votes in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, improve to 17-11 on the year and advance to the GNAC Championship for the fourth time in the tournament's five-year history. The Wildcats fall to 17-17 on the year and will now wait to hear from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament committee for a bid to the 2012 ECAC North Championships. read more
