  • ENGLISH & McDONAGH TABBED TO GNAC ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM

    BOSTON, Mass. – Emmanuel College junior outside hitter Erik English (Simi Valley, Calif.) and sophomore setter Seamus McDonagh (Long Beach, N.Y.) have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Second Team squad, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore John Carroll (Massapequa, N.Y.) was the Emmanuel representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship team.

    NASHUA, N.H. - The top-seeded Rivier University Men’s Volleyball team clinched a spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship game as they defeated visiting Emmanuel College, the tournament’s fourth seed, 3-1 inside the friendly confines of the Muldoon Gymnasium. The Raiders are now 25-6 overall on the season while the Saints season ends at 15-16.

    BOSTON, MASS. - The Emmanuel College Men’s Volleyball team dropped the first two sets of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s volleyball first round playoffs matchup on Tuesday evening before surging back to win the final three sets, (25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 18-25, 10-15), led by junior opposite hitter Kevin Orsley (San Jose, Calif.) with a match high 21 kills.
  • MEN'S VOLLEYBALL CLINCHES HOME PLAYOFF MATCH WITH 3-1 WIN OVER MOUNT IDA

    NEWTON, Mass. --  Seniors Grant Andler (Chicago, Ill.) and Matt Heckler (Simi Valley, Calif.) each registered 17 kills as Rivier completed a perfect 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s volleyball regular season campaign by sweeping a league tri-match from Emmanuel and host Mount Ida Sunday afternoon at the Athletic Center. The Saints managed to come away with a split on the morning, posting a 3-1 win against host Mount Ida to clinch a home GNAC playoff game next week.

    PROVIDENCE, RI – Needing a victory to wrap up a home game for the first round of next week’s GNAC Tournament, the Johnson & Wales University men’s volleyball team came through in the clutch. The Wildcats defeated Emmanuel, 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-20) on Thursday.

    BOSTON, Mass. - Junior opposite hitter Kevin Orsley (San Jose, Calif.) posted a career-high 20 kills while hitting .500 on the match to power the Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team past Lasell College, 3-1, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team went the distance in a 3-2 victory over visiting Regis College Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action. The Saints trailed 2-1 after three set but rallied for the 3-2 victory to improve to 7-4 in GNAC play.

    WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men’s volleyball team got more than it could handle against Emmanuel College, as the Pride was swept by the Saints Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Higgins Court. Set scores were 25-20, 25-19, 25-14.

    BOSTON, Mass. - The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team salvaged a split with Cal Lutheran and Lesley University in non-conference action on the Andy Yosinoff Court on Sunday afternoon. The Saints fell to the CLU Kingsmen, 3-0, before rebounding for a 3-0 victory over Lesley in the nightcap.

    BOSTON, MASS. - The Emmanuel College Men’s Volleyball team began the day with a win over Emerson College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play, as junior outside hitter Erik English (Simi Valley, Calif.) and sophomore middle hitter John Carroll (Massapequa, N.Y) led the offense of the Saints with a combined 28 kills to defeat the Lions in five sets, (25-23, 15-25, 16-25, 22-25, 13-15), Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s volleyball action.

    NEWTON, Mass. – Sophomore Janci Soto (Lawrence, Mass.) smashed 11 kills with a .476 attack percentage (11-1-21) Tuesday evening to lead Lasell College to a 3-0 sweep over Emmanuel College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men’s volleyball match at the Lasell Athletic Center.

    BOSTON, MASS. - The Emmanuel College Men’s Volleyball team was taken down in three sets by Colleges of the Fenway rival Wentworth Institute of Technology, led by Ollie Oshman (Pennington, N.J.) and Collin Ritter (Feeling Hills, Mass.), who each recorded ten kills on the day, defeating the Saints, 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-20), Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s volleyball action.

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Emmanuel College men’s volleyball team picked up a pair of 3-0 wins Saturday afternoon in non-conference play on the campus of Johnson & Wales University. EC downed Southern Vermont College 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-8) before sweeping Pine Manor College 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-5).

    Patchogue, N.Y. - The Emmanuel College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests Saturday in the Danzi Center. The Saints lost a 3-0 decision to SUNY New Paltz before falling to host Saint Joseph Long Island, 3-1 in the tri-match finale.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Behind a season-high 13 kills from senior Tavish Smith (Laguna Beach, Calif.), the No. 15 MIT men's volleyball team improved to 7-0 with a three-set sweep of Emmanuel College on Tuesday evening inside Rockwell Cage as the Engineers defeated the Saints by set scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-21.

    The Sage Colleges’ men’s volleyball team hosted Wells College and Emmanuel College on Saturday in a tri-match. Wells beat Emmanuel, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-19) to improve to 6-3. Sage then beat Emmanuel, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22) in the final match. Sage is now 3-5 overall, while Emmanuel drops to 2-5 on the year.

The contest was the first for both teams as the Engineers improve to 1-0 while the Saints fall to 0-1.
