The Emmanuel Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of R. Evan Davis as an assistant coach for the Saints Men's Lacrosse Program. Davis recently joined the Emmanuel coaching staff and will work with Head Coach Brendan McWilliams and Assistant Coach Trevor Craven on the college's newest varsity athletic program. Emmanuel will sponsor men's lacrosse at the club level in 2010-11 and the team will transition to a varsity sport for the 2011-2012 season.
Davis brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He currently works full-time, serving as the Associate Executive Athletic Director for the Boston Scholar Athlete Program, a division of Suffolk Construction's charitable arm, the Red and Blue Foundation. The BSA works with Boston Public Schools to bolster the athletic and academic programs in the 18 Boston Public High Schools' sports programs.
Davis spent seven years as head men's lacrosse coach at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. In the summer of 2005, Davis was selected by U.S. Lacrosse to be a team coach at the 2006 World Lacrosse Team Tryouts. Davis also coached the Massachusetts Central Bay States Lacrosse Team and served as the New England representative to the STX USILA All-America Committee.
Davis' other lacrosse experience includes serving on the World Lacrosse Team selection-coaching staff, working as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Marymount University, Va., playing for the powerhouse high school Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, NY and starting the lacrosse club team at Gettysburg College. He went on to play for the post-collegiate level Team AOL in the American Lacrosse League.
"Coach Davis' head coaching experience, as well as his energy and enthusiasm for the game, will be instrumental in growing our new men's lacrosse program at Emmanuel," commented McWilliams. "I am excited to have him on board." Davis earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Gettysburg College in 1996 and his masters in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix in 2006.
