Coach Steven Tower began his career with the Saints in 2004. Tower was a member of the Emmanuel staff in 2005-06, when Head Coach Jamahl Jackson was awarded the GNAC Coach of the Year, and the Saints went 20-8 overall and 17-1 in the GNAC. In his first season under Jackson, the Saints program excelled to a then program-record 17 wins.
At Emmanuel, Tower is involved with all aspects of the program. These include on and off campus recruiting, opponent scouting and game plan preparation, player skill development, as well as assisting the head coach with daily practice preparation and overall daily operations. Specializing in Marketing at Northeastern and Communications at Umass-Amherst, Tower brings a wealth of sports business experience to the Emmanuel staff.
Tower spent seven years at Spalding Sports Worldwide and worked in the Marketing Department as the National Promotions Director. While at Spalding, Tower worked under John Doleva, then VP of Marketing for Spalding, now President of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
After Spalding, Tower accepted a position at Pinnacle Team Sports. As an account executive. Steve handled both football and basketball teams in the PAC 10, ACC, Atlantic 10, Conference USA and Ivy League. In his first year at Pinnacle, Tower was awarded the Sales Rookie Of The Year Award at the National Sales Meeting.
Following his career at Pinnacle, Tower moved on to his current role as the Youth Sports Health Coordinator at Sport In Society. Managing the Massachusetts General Hospital site, Tower focuses on helping urban youths make the connection between being physically active and living a healthy lifestyle. The program highlights nutrition, physical activity, and healthy lifestyle choices. In addition to creating health center programs, he collaborates with other neighborhood agencies and programs to create better youth programs in Boston. To date, this unique program has created more than 9,500 opportunities for Boston youths to participate in organized sports, both traditional team sports and non-traditional fitness activities.
Tower, a two sport athlete, played both Semi-Pro Football and Professional Basketball. As a quarterback in both the NEFL and EFL, Tower earned Offensive MVP honors, and as a safety on defense was selected to the All-Star Team. In Basketball, Tower played with Coach Jackson in the EBA as a member of the Springfield Slamm and as a member of the Connecticut Stars traveling team.
