JACKSON NOTCHES 100TH CAREER WIN, AS SAINTS TOP LIONS

Emmanuel Head Coach Jamahl Jackson earned his 100th career win on Saturday afternoon, when he led the Saints Men's Basketball Team to a 64-48 win over cross-town rival Emerson College.

MEN'S BASKETBALL SET TO KICK OFF 2011-12 SEASON

Saints return a veteran core and will look to get back in the hunt for a GNAC crown

Coach Jamahl Jackson is the Assistant Athletic Director and Head Athletic Recruiter for Emmanuel College. Jackson, who joined the Emmanuel staff in 2000, coordinates recruitment for all of the men's and women's athletic teams at Emmanuel. Jackson is in his 8th season as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Emmanuel. In just his second season as head coach, Jamahl was named GNAC Coach of the Year for 2005-2006 and led the team to a 20-8 overall record and a 17-1 regular season record in the GNAC. In his first season at the helm, Coach Jackson led the Saints to a then program-record 17 wins. The 2008-09 team finished in with a 12-6 conference record and advanced to the GNAC championship game, losing by just two points in overtime. Prior to being named head coach, Jamahl served three years as assistant coach and as associate head coach at Emmanuel. Coach Jackson has been key in the development and direction of the men's basketball program.

His coaching background includes a 33-7 overall record at Amherst Regional High School and six years as a counselor/coach with the Five-Star and P.L.A.Y. (Planned Learning Achievement for Youth) Academy basketball camps. Jamahl has worked as a physical education teacher at the elementary school level in Amherst, MA, and worked on staff in a group home for emotionally disturbed youth in Northampton, MA.

Jamahl Jackson is a former 4-year Division I player for the University of New Hampshire. At UNH, he received a B.S. in kinesiology. Coach Jackson also played semi-professional basketball for two years with the Springfield Slamm of the United Basketball Alliance and was a standout for traveling teams in Japan.
