LARIVIERE NAMED TO D3 ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Emmanuel's Cathryn Lariviere was recently honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for efforts in the classroom, as well as her tremendous Cross Country season this past fall. Lariviere was named to the USTFCCCA's Women's NCAA Division III All-Academic Cross Country Team. The award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.
In addition to meeting these requirements, Lariviere was also named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year. She placed 1st at the GNAC Championship Meet on November 1st, after winning two other meets during the regular season. Lariviere also placed 21st out of a field of 330, earning NCAA All-Regional honors at the NCAA Regional meet on November 15th. During the season, Lariviere was named the GNAC's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for six-straight weeks. Such a streak is unprecedented for an Emmanuel athlete.
A total of 221 Division III female student-athletes received the 2008 USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic honor, up 18 from last year's total. 103 Division III institutions are represented on this year's All-Academic team, led by Washington University (Missouri), which placed six student-athletes on the team. The New England Small College Athletic Conference had the most conference student-athletes on the 2008 USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic list with 27, followed by the University Athletic Association with 21, and the Centennial Conference with 19 conference student-athletes on the list.
