IBRAHIM'S MILE RANKS 5TH NATIONALLY

Ibrahim's one-mile indoor time of 4:22.70, achieved on December 26th, now ranks him 5th nationally in this event.

On the day following Christmas, Emmanuel College junior Abdi Ibrahim (East Boston, Mass.) competed at the Boston University Indoor Track Mini Meet. Ibrahim was the only Emmanuel student-athlete to compete in this meet. The junior transfer entered the meet owning both Emmanuel College program records in the mile and in the 800 meters. Ibrahim went on to smash both of his own school records, cutting over five seconds off of his time in the mile and two seconds off his 800 meter time.

Ibrahim's one-mile indoor time of 4:22.70, achieved on December 26th now ranks him 5th nationally in this event. His 800-meter time of 1:58.40 puts hi,m at 9th nationally. While Ibrahim's times in both the mile and 800-meters were faster than the qualifying times for the New England Division III Championships and for the ECAC Championships, the B.U. mini-meet was not a qualifying meet for the championships. Ibrahim will still need to qualify in a larger meet once the second semester of Indoor Track kicks off after the New Year.

Ibrahim and the Emmanuel squad will return to competition on January 23rd at the Greater Boston Track Club Invitational hosted by Harvard University.
