BUFFONE, JOYNER RECEIVE CAMPUS LIFE AWARDS

Boston, MA - Two Emmanuel College student-athletes were recognized at one of the 2008 Family Weekend ceremonies. The two standout students were honored for their dedicated service and numerous contributions to the life and vitality of the Emmanuel campus. Lauren Buffone (women's soccer) and Torrey Joyner (men's basketball) were one of only nine students and five faculty/staff members to receive Campus Life Awards on Saturday October 18, 2008.

Lauren Buffone, a four-year member and two-year captain of the women's soccer team, is also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and Students Taking Action to Initiate Change. Buffone has successfully organized three community service activities per semester and has done an outstanding job building relationships with the Winsor School and Mission Hill Grammar School.

Men's basketball team member, Torrey Joyner, while only a sophomore, serves the College in a number of leadership roles. Joyner is a Resident Assistant. He is the President of the Emmanuel College Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), as well as President of the GNAC Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Joyner is also a student representative on the Search Committee for the Dean of Arts and Sciences and on the President's Panel on Diversity and Community.
