The Women's Soccer Team finished up the regular season with a 7-8-2 overall record and a 6-2-1 conference mark. The 2nd seeded Saints will host 7th seeded Simmons College in the GNAC quarterfinals. This game will be played on Saturday (10/28) at the Winsor School Field at 12:00 pm.

The Men's Soccer Team defeated Albertus Magnus College, 1-0, on Wednesday helping the Saints to earn a 6 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament. Emmanuel finished the regular season with a program best 8 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie. The Saints will travel to Northfield, VT on Sunday (10/29) to take on the 3rd seeded Cadets of Norwich University in the GNAC quarterfinals. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start. The Cadets defeated the Saints, 4-0, earlier this season.

Emmanuel's club Baseball Team tested the number one team in its league again last night. The Northeastern University Huskies came into last night's game against Emmanuel owning an 8-1 record overall. The Huskies' one loss came by way of Emmanuel earlier in the season. The Saints entered the game with a 4-7 record. Northeastern had already clinched a playoff spot and expectations of playing in the league championship game this Sunday. This was Emmanuel's first full season as a part of the New England Club Baseball Association (NECBA).

Lefty pitcher Andrew Crawford, who held Northeastern down during the previous win, lasted the whole game in the 40 degree weather. Crawford struck out three batters over 6 innings and held the team, which led the league in runs, scoreless until the 5th inning. Emmanuel's defense was flawless, with key plays coming from senior third basemen Rocco Piccirillo, who threw a runner out at the plate, and senior Mike Zakarian, who turned a key double play with sophomore shortstop Bobby Pacheco and junior first baseman Dan Palazzo.

Emmanuel's offense came in the third inning, when senior centerfielder Ricky Wong scored from third on a fielder's choice from Pacheco. Heading into the 5th inning and facing a 1-0 deficit, Northeastern got its leadoff hitter on with a single and was able to manufacture a run to tie the game. However, the Huskies failed to take the lead when sophomore catcher Holt Pagano was able to track a ball that got away from him and threw the runner out trying to steal home. It had appeared that the Saints were going to add to their total as freshman outfielder Jay Rogers was able to get on base, when Palazzo drove the first pitch he saw deep to left. After the Huskies took the lead in the bottom on the sixth, it was up to the entire Saints team to rally and tie the game in the top of the 7th. Emmanuel was able to get its first two batters on base with singles by Wong and Pagano, but came up just short of tying the game.

The entire Emmanuel Saints team rose to a new level when everyone stood and cheered in support of one another. It was a tremendous atmosphere. The Saints went on to lose their toughest game of the year to the now 9-1 Northeastern squad, which sprinted onto the field in celebration when the last out was recorded. The Saints finished the regular season with a 4-8 overall record and in a tie for second place, earning a playoff spot. Emmanuel College was the only new team to enter the NECBA in 2006 and the only Division III team in the league made up of six schools. The Saints face Holy Cross tonight (10/26) at 7pm at Jim Rice Field.

The Club Baseball Team would also like to sincerely thank all of the students and staff members who showed up last night and stayed for the entire game to support the Saints in the cold October weather.
