Boston, Mass. - Emmanuel College will sponsor Women's Varsity Lacrosse in 2010. This new athletic program will be the 16th varsity sport for the college, after the addition of men's varsity golf this coming fall. Director of Athletics, Pam Roecker, hired Selina Collier to be Emmanuel's first women's lacrosse coach. Collier will coach the Saints at the club level during the 2009-2010 season, as they prepare for varsity competition in the 2010-2011 academic year. According to Roecker, "The decision to add varsity women's lacrosse has been a very exciting one for the college and the athletic department." The Saints will call the new turf at Roberto Clemente Field home for their spring season, which lasts from February through April.

"In Coach Collier, we have a coach with outstanding experience, tremendous passion, and the belief in our potential to successfully compete at this level. She is going to begin recruiting immediately and we have every confidence in her potential to build this program," Roecker commented.

Coach Collier is excited and honored to be appointed as the first women's lacrosse coach at Emmanuel College. "I am confident that with the new Clemente Field, the outstanding location of the school, and the academic & athletic tradition at Emmanuel, I will be able to build an strong and competitive program with the Saints. I look forward to getting started immediately," said Collier.

Most recently, Coach Collier served as the interim head women's lacrosse coach at Roger Williams University. In her inaugural campaign, she directed the Hawks to a program-best record of 15-4, a conference-best record of 8-1, and an appearance in the championship game. As a result of her efforts, Coach Collier was recognized as The Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse 2009 Coach of the Year.

Prior to taking over the reigns as the interim head coach, Collier served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Coach Collier, a graduate of Salve Regina University, earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2006. As a member of the women's lacrosse team, she helped her team to second place finish in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in 2002 and 2003. She also served as the team's captain for two seasons.

A graduate of Ethel Walker School in 2001 and native of West Hartford, CT. Collier has experience playing a number of sports including field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. During her playing career, she received Coach's Awards in 1998 and 2001 for field hockey, and a MVP award in 2001 for lacrosse. In addition, she also earned All-State recognition in Connecticut in 2000.
